One of the most amazing places we visited in Tuscany was the Aboca Museum in Sansepolcro. There you can see ancient apothecary equipment, preserved herbs, poisons, and other substances (e.g., mummified crocodiles), and fabulous herbalist manuscripts. Well worth a visit! Here are a few shots of some of the rare "gizmos" we saw...

I want... ummm... whatever you call that thing in the third photo.
Magic is afoot.
Ahhh Sansepolcro and the Aboca (?) Museum--love these but the picture of Florence at the top took my breath away. Cheers, mi amore!
whoa...those are some vintage gadgets!~ Happy TT!
Oooh, some of those give me chills, especially the ones that look like they were used for surgery. I am so thankful that things have improved.
These are some great pictures of old gadgets that show us how far we have come. Although the one that SF wants might still be in use in a few places.
Thanks for playing along with us on this weeks Theme Thursday.
God bless.
Wonderful pictures, Sean.

Mmmm....some of those gadgets are downright scary. A good halloween post.
What an incredible experience that must have been. You've a wonderful sequence here.
Gorgeous shots. The first reminds me of a bar in Brunswick Street in Melbourne called he Alchemist, very trendoid
...and to think this is the way they got their medicine years ago. t’is a bit spooky at time, but guess it worked pretty well because we descendants of those folk are living quite well many, many years later. I really enjoyed looking at this series you put it together beautifully. genie
Oh my, I love your work! Nice to meet somebody from my neck of the woods too. I'm your newest follower.
Thanks so much for stopping by to say hello,
