Urbino Interiors

In February 2007 we visited the Palazzo Ducale in Urbino, Umbria. We were there in the off season, so it was fairly deserted, and the huge, silent, empty rooms were terrific studies in form and relationship. I could nearly feel the ghosts following us around.

Can't resist leaving this one in color, it's so nicely subtle.

Haunting lighting in each of these photos! There is a kind of breathlessness, waiting for something to happen! Beautiful!

These are all great and I see what you mean. I especially like that 3rd one.

I used to hold this kind of architecture as an ideal of the kind of place I would live if I could. I now know I would be lonely if I didn't fill it with 'things' but I'm still impressed by the large emptiness.

Wonderful photos. The light is exquisite. I love the patterns in the black and white shot.

Such wonderful studies in light & dark, each one is gorgeous! In the second the ceiling reminds me of flower petals with the light shining through!
